Pans for grown-ups

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only ever owned "pots and pans," and certainly never anything that could be categorized as "Cookware." My relationship with them has always been one of convenience; short term; disposable. If I ruined a pan, so what? Toss it, move on. I was in the casual dating phase of cookery, and I was ready to take the leap into a long-term commitment. I didn't cook with them for a solid week after I got them. I was scared to ruin them. I read up on stainless steel, hard anodization, multi-ply, clad, aluminum, cleaning and care, and everything possible to try and become an expert without actually using them. Of course, as is always the case: experience takes experience. I burned my first dinner (steak). I burned my second dinner (chowder). By my third dinner, I had finally gotten it through my head that these pans hold heat well and evenly, and that I didn't need to turn my burner above medium pretty much... ever. I have an electric stove (the scourge of culinary society!) and had a cheap set of non-sticks, so I was used to high heat for cooking and hot spots in the pans. No more. Now it's just pre-heat the pan, add a little oil, and voila! perfect sears on the meat; beautiful browning on the asparagus; savory simmering soups and sauces; remarkable roux; sensational steaming! This set is the perfect starter set for the aspiring gourmet. It has just enough variety of pans to try out pretty much any dish, any way. My favorite piece is the fry pan, simply for its versatility and elegance. The long handles on the pans are ergonomic and feel comfortably counterbalanced to the weight of the base. The lids are also solid steel and fit tightly for great steaming. (If I had one complaint about the pans it would be this- that the company logo is unattractively laser-etched onto the lids.) Clean-up takes a little longer (they recommend not putting stainless steel in the dishwasher), but after a good soak, it feels very satisfying to scrub and dry out the pan, returning it to its beautiful silver shine. After about a month of using the pans, I can honestly say that I'm a convert to a superior way of cooking. I have a much better relationship with my pans, my stove, my kitchen, my food. As I can afford to, I will be replacing more of the old pans and expanding this Cook's Standard set a piece or two at a time. (First up will be a larger fry pan!) Me, to my beautiful pans now: "You make me want to be a better cook!" Quality cookware really does make a difference, and I will now highly encourage people to try out and test this affordable starter set and see the distinction for themselves!

Good Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using the 8 piece Cooks Standard set consistently for a couple of weeks now & it has certainly meet our expectations. It seems like a good quality set in reference to the construction. I like the weight, not too heavy or too light and it conducts heat very well so I am able to use at lower temperatures. The steamer is a nice, useful addition to the set, we have used it to steam vegetables with perfect results. This have washed up easily although I'm not quite sure why they aren't dishwasher safe.

Great for Dads!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dad Joke: Two sausages were in a frying pan One turns to the other and says "Is it hot in here?" The other says "Oh my God, a talking sausage!!" Love that joke :) These pots and pans are great!! Nothing sticks and they heat up evenly every time. We are a family of four and this set fits most of our needs. For me, I like quality. This set is heavy and solid. They have a good feel to them. The colors go with pretty much anything. The steamer is nice add on and we have been using it more then I expected. The one down side is I wish the lids were glass and not metal. Our water leaves marks and it shows on the lids. Not a big deal but something to be noted. All in all we love this set and it well worth the price. I’m sure they are going to last for years. PROs: Easy clean Non stick Great sizes Solid CONs: Water marks can be seen Can smoosh a toe if dropped My dog won't play fetch with my frying-pan... It must be non-stick.

Great cookware

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cookware set is nice. They aren't really heavy, but not lightweight either. I love the steamer. I would have to stay the frying pan is my least favorite item, things kind of stick to it, but not a huge deal. I wish they were dishwasher safe, only because I hate hand washing, but oh well, you can't have everything. Overall, I'm happy with this cookware.

Great set of cookware

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cooks Standard 8-Piece Multi-Ply Clad Hard Anodized Cookware Set, Stainless Steel is great for gifting as a starter cookware set or perfect for those looking to switch to stainless steel but like the way hard anodized cleans up. The multiply stainless steel interior with aluminum core cooks well and, with proper care, cleans up easily. The hard anodized exterior keeps the outside looking good, helps with temperature control and is very easy to clean. This is a great medium weight set. Oven proof to 500F. Hand washing is recommended. Not advised to use for Induction. The set has a 1.5 and 3 Quart saucepan, 8 Quart stockpot with a 10 inch steamer insert with stainless steel lids for all. The set also includes a 10 inch fry pan.
