Bad placement

The book is beautiful too bad Barnes and Noble is too stupid to realize you don't place stickers on a beautiful book. At least put it in a sleeve if you feel so compelled. They ruined the cover for a non essential sticker

Beautiful Stories

I can't say if the translations of the stories are perfect, not having previous knowledge of them or of the languages that they were taken from. But the stories themselves are very fun to read (at least for me). I'm about 1/4 way through maybe. The story styles are very similar to the English translations of the Grimm fairy tales. In that the stories are often themes where someone will learn a lesson that I'm sure would have been much more important at that time in history, often through supernatural intervention. The book is also the style where everything is just one story after another, no context to help you understand the situations and words that might not quite translate to Western culture and our current time. I really think if they do another version of this, that they might consider adding some helpful information before each story to add that context. I won't rate whether or not the stories are suitable for readers nowadays, as I don't think that's why anyone would want to read these. I think of these stories as more of a historic collection, and think you should read this (and any adult book) before you decide that any young people in your family are mature enough to understand the content. Just about any book old enough will certainly contain casual circumstances of things we would be appalled with if we saw it today. But, I haven't been unpleasantly surprised by anything I read so far, and think it's another interesting look into a tiny bit of a cultures history. The physical book itself is really beautiful, it has a great binding, and I love the gilt page edges! I've taken to collecting the B&N Collectible editions, and this is a great addition to that collection
