Fun and full of helpful info!

I absolutely loved this book - so much that I plan to buy a copy for myself and others to give as gifts! It's a very quick and easy read but rich in tips and helpful exercises. It's a very fun book with bright colors, adorable illustrations and cool fonts. I highly recommend! Thank you, Clarkson Potter and NetGalley, for a digital ARC!

A Book that feels like an understanding hug

I've been following Katie for years now and have looked up to her for body confidence. Shes such a strong woman/role model for many women, men and young girls out there. This book proved that. The illustrations, the work book areas or "homework" throughout helps the manifestation process of a healthier mind to body relationship. She dives in to her own experiences growing up and dealing with insane commentary and body image issues. I related hard. I think most coming of age individuals would get much use out of this book. Dare I say this could be the more adult version "The Body Book" from American Girl??? This was a lovely read, something to go back to throughout time and something that I see myself sharing with friends and family.

Couldn’t put er down

I don’t really self help books because they feel like a chore. Katie’s book is a DELIGHT. It’s funny and helpful and relatable... all the things. I read it one swoop and had a blast. Highly recommend to anyone who has ever spent even a minute hating their bod!

Vulnerable and positive - spot on!

I discovered Katie on IG a while ago and have been waiting for this book. It's personal and positive and helpful whether these co cents are new to you or well worn. The workbook style and messaging make it a book you can go back to time and time again (I am projecting!). It's helpful for many of us (all of us?!?) who suffer from negative self talk and body comparison to hear some simple tropes and also understand where we might need more work. Thank you Katie for sharing and writing this book!

Positive message and quick/easy read

I bought this in a Barnes & Noble store because I enjoy following Katie Sturino on Instagram and love her body positive messaging. Great illustrations, and for me could work as a coffee table book with its graphic design. I’m not a huge self help type book person, but I wanted to buy this to pass on to other women and girls who could use some encouragement for loving themselves just the way they are, which it delivers on.

Powerful Words

Part workbook, part manifesto, and 100% badass, Katie Sturino's book Body Talk is a great addition to your body positive library. Accompanied by bold illustrations and a clear voice, the author will help you give a big f-you to shame, toxic messages, and self hatred, and help you see yourself for the amazing person you already are by reframing your narrative by saying "nope" to negativity. While I feel like the book's messaging is oversimplified at times, when in reality these skills take years and a lot of practice to fully learn, it is an excellent starting point for someone who wants to be more body positive. Simple tricks like telling your negative thoughts "nope" and keeping track of all the body negativity you experience in a day ("skinny latte" anyone?) are easy enough to put into practice immediately. I especially loved the bold illustrations by Monica Garwood, which are empowering all on their own! Content warning: strong language Advanced copy gifted by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
