Product is backed by a company with integrity
Ok so the first one we got had a manufacturing defect, which was surprising to me because of the crazy number of positive reviews the product had. This, by itself, would not have caused me to give the product five stars. However, they didn’t hesitate to stand behind their product. Few people and even fewer organizations on this earth still have integrity, and black & decker is one of them. They sent me a new one without it costing an additional penny, and it works beautifully.

Careful may cause serious burns!!
I used it three times and it overheated the pot after removing a cup full from the coffee pot and it heated to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit, I took a sip of my coffee after putting in cold coffee creamer and burned my lips and tongue!! I was extremely unhappy and in excruciating pain!!

carafe lid should be removable
Very disappointed that the carafe brew lid does not come off as it makes it very difficult to put into the dishwasher. Otherwise good product

My faithful workhorse
This is my third or fourth coffeemaker of this exact model (12 cup capacity, clock and programmable timer). Before the Black and Deckers I had previously used a Mr. Coffee maker (didn't like the coffee it made) and a Bunn (also didn't like due to personal preferences, coffee was great though). The slight design changes on my recent purchase show one improvement, namely that the silver trim piece on the basket-holder is now at the top and won't interfere with trying to wipe out the basket holder. It also has one feature that I feel is worse, lots of extra "vanes" of plastic on the inside of the basket. This would not be a problem if I used a dishwasher to wash the basket (that gets them shiningly clean!) but as I must wash the basket by hand it will be much more tedious to get the oils and coffee solids cleaned out. My older B&D coffeemakers had the warming burner fail; my most recent one slowed down during coffeemaking enough that the coffee was sub-par. After doing a vinegar cleaning (I hadn't done that in years) it is working fine, but I wanted a new maker as a back-up. Not having coffee in my house is a major emergency, as we live far from shops to buy coffee. I am very happy that this same model continues to be manufactured; I'd hate to have to try to find a different brand that I like as well, and is also economical. We make two half-pots of coffee most days. I am not sure whether adding images will work, as the submit button is above the choice to add them, and nothing happens when I try to add them BEFORE hitting that "Submit" button. If they can be added, the photos with red arrows drawn on show where the metal clips are inside the basket holder. Trying to clean the older style of coffee residue and moisture tears up the paper towel and doesn't really come clean. The clips for the silver trim on the newer unit are above where the coffee grounds and residue will be. The other two photos show the much taller and more numerous plastic vanes in the newer unit's basket and the older basket's shorter vanes running up the inside.
