Amazing

This book was so hard to put down! And the way it ended I definitely wouldn’t mind a third book or a series in the same universe!! Highly recommend

Revenge is everything

I’ll have to go against popular opinion on this one. The first waxways novel (wizard teens thrown into a wilderness survival scenario!) was very much my jam, if a tad predictable at times. This second novel (brutal tale of revenge), not as interesting a scenario for me, which is what I expected. The entire book is the careful plotting of revenge against house Brood. There are one or two interesting twists in a plot that is otherwise very predictable. The author felt the need to include the token gender-confused peripheral character that is so over-used in modern fiction it makes your eyes roll and adds nothing to the plot. A little more is added to the world-building of the waxways universe, which is great to see, but of course it won’t grab the attention and imagination of the reader quite like the first novel in the series. I *needed* to know how Ren’s mission of revenge turned out, and you will probably want to, too, but it was a clunky attempt overall. Still occasionally entertaining. I definitely don’t need to read the next installment.

Unputdownable

Thank you Simon and Schuster and Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. Another fast paced thrill Ride from Scott Reintgen! Ren’s plan succeeded in putting her in the House of Brood family. She and Theo are bonded and now her work can begin. The only problem is not everyone in the Brood family is happy to have her there. As a result Theo is shipped off to a remote watchtower that hasn’t been needed in a long time. With these changes Ren will need help if she plans to take the House Brood down. Luckily she learns of a different House all but extinct also due to House Brood. Dahvid and Nevelyn Tin’Vori have been biding their time to get their revenge on House Brood. And Ren Monroe just might be the piece they need. But it’ll all fall apart if Ren can’t get Theo on her side. And what happens when Ren’s feelings start to become real? Will she be able to do what needs to be done? All three have their roles to play. And if done correctly they may finally get the revenge their owed. I loved all three protagonists and each piece of the puzzle they were working on had me enthralled! Each time a chapter ended I didn’t want to switch to a new character but I knew their story would be just as exciting! Plus the ending! I have to know what’s coming next! It’s unputdownable! Highly recommend!

Lots of magic in this one.

I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway for my honest review. In the city of Kathor where magic is plenty a young Girl named Ren Monroe watched her father killed. After a decade Ren is not that little girl anymore. For the last decade she has been plotting to get revenge on her father's killer, Landwin Brood. Their are 5 major families that rule Kathor. The top ruling family is House of Brood. Landwin Brood also completely destroyed and killed another ruling family, had them all killed. Or so he thought. 3 of the children of House of Tin'Vori survived. Those 3 children and Ren Monroe become allies. The frustrating part is Ren has bonded with Theo Brood, Landwin's son. Her bond with Theo has become rather strong and she's starting to have feelings for Theo. How are the poor children going to bring down The House of Brood with all the magical security and an whole army at their beck and call? Will Ren find Justice for her father or will this be the end? This book is very well written. Slightly entertaining. 75% of the book is about plotting to take down the house of Brood. Which makes the battle at the end seem very small in comparison. If your a fan of Fantasy books I recommend you give it a try.
