[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to love this echo show but it’s been more stressful than helpful. It has its pros and cons, but what doesn’t work for me might work for others. It’s beautiful and sleek and the screen quality is amazing but a bit large for me. I get the bigger screen is way better visually to watch videos and the huge speaker produces great sound, but it takes up too much of my counter space. The angled up position of the screen is perfect when you’re directly in front of it (camera zooms in and out when detecting people), but if I want a lower view (say of my dogs) on a drop in call to the house, all I get is a far away view of the ceiling. App wise, we mainly use it for music and have had not problem with Sirius XM, but to play Apple Music you have to have good luck at that moment or will have to stream it via BT from your phone and then will not be able to use your phone entirely. I had no problem checking messages and whatsapp but when I opened Instagram the audio on the echo stopped, started playing music from a previous music app, from there it went crazy going back to playing the Apple Music selection even if I had already closed it on my phone. WIFI connection has been spot on. My family likes being in the backyard and our previous “ok (search engine)” brand would constantly lose connection. This echo has not failed once in that dept. We will continue using it, training it and ourselves because our previous other brand has been acting up.

My favorite device
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best smart device I have owned. The ability to use it like a tablet and control numerous devices is awesome. The video quality and ability to watch my pets while not home is a huge bonus. The sound quality is great. I can hear it across my house while cleaning.

Does what it says on the box!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A great piece of technology that does everything it’s supposed to do. I keep it in the kitchen to read my recipes, listen to music or audiobooks, or watch videos. The speaker makes up most of the back body. While it is loud enough to enjoy over a set of sizzling pots and pans, it isn’t a rich sound. Which is fine for my purposes. When I leave for town, I move the device to the living room in order to monitor my cats. The camera is wide enough to capture the whole room and the picture is clear enough to see it all. Also appreciative that there’s a physical means to close off the camera so my personal FBI agent can’t spy on me.

Statement piece
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to get this because I always wanted one. I was able to easily set it up. I was able to access pictures to play continuously of my family and even program it to my voice. Adding smart lights soon to that Alexa can help me set the mood.

Love
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Before getting this I only had an echo dot so I was excited to get this product. I love being able to see what song is playing instead of having to ask. I like that the time and weather are always on the screen instead of again having to ask. It has been nice to have my pictures linked to it so I can see memories whenever I am near it. I also like that I can click on my notifications and that there is just so much more I can do with this than what I was able to do with the echo dot.

Makes your home smart after some patience with set up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given the Echo Show 8 Generation 3 device in exchange for my honest review. I’ve had an Echo dot since they came out and currently have 4 through out my home. We also have several Alex enabled tvs or fire sticks. You can say I’m a fan of the technology! I would love to have everything in my home voice controlled and I’m getting there with the help of Alexa. There are too many things to list what an Echo Alexa enabled device can do for you. To start as simple as telling you the time, weather, driving distances, store hours, game updates, to controlling by voice your AC, sprinklers, lights, cameras, and vacuum. It’s very handy. This is my first Echo with a display and it’s so much more fun. It is has an 8 inch screen and is a black charcoal color (comes in white too). We are keeping it on our Kitchen island so it can be used in the family room or kitchen as needed. They sell an optional stand that tilts and I will be getting that for more versatility. The quality of sound while playing music is very good and now I get to see the name of the song and artist as well as song lyrics scroll for most songs. I can ask for a recipe and see it on the screen and then touch screen to scroll back and look at it. I ask for the weather and it shows a visual including the days ahead and then it displays local news items from the city I asked about. It’s a very “smart” device. I now have a camera. I can drop in for a live view from my phone while away from the house and see my pet!! For security there is a camera cover that you can keep in place if you choose. It can also recognize family members once you set this up and customize the screen when they are near by. This plays a slideshow of your photos and can take selfies. I would like to have given this a 4.5 stars out of 5 due to the set up, touchscreen limitations, and lack of manual. I’m fairly tech savvy and not having any written directions or guide on how to use and what you can do with this device is a huge miss. My screen got stuck during set up and I could not find a way online to fix it and since the device kept repeating what you last touched I was ready to throw it. I called for help finally had to repeat my issue a couple of times and then after a factory rest we were back on setting up. Plan to have patience on the set up. I’m also not loving a 4 yes 4 finger swipe. I’m trying to get used to tapping everything twice not once as it repeats button button until you get it right. I have some things to learn for sure and a manual would be so very helpful. We were not friends to begin with and now we are developing a good relationship. I’m still in love with it and can’t live without!

Great little device to play media on and check weather
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love using my echo for playing podcasts or music while I’m cooking in the kitchen. The audio quality is surprisingly good (good bass too) and I can use Spotify with it. I like that you can upload photos so it acts just like a digital frame when you’re not using it. Also nice to see the weather on it and learn things like word of the day

Improving an already great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am replacing my Echo Show 8 2nd gen with this 3rd gen. I’ve loved my 2nd gen for a couple years now - the sound is good, the responsiveness is great, and the size is perfect for my nightstand (it’s the best alarm clock). When I saw there was a new generation coming out, I was not planning on buying it. However, after setting up the 3rd gen, I can immediately tell the difference. The sound, which is the most important to me, is great - more rich than the 2nd gen. The best part of the 3rd gen however is the upgraded processor. It’s noticeably much faster than the 2nd gen and I’m loving it. I didn’t think it would make that much of a difference, but I definitely couldn’t go back. The camera has moved to the center which is great for people who use it, but I keep mine covered all the time, so I love that there is an easy way to do that (shown in the pictures). The top buttons have also been upgraded and are easier to use. If you have an older echo show 8, or an echo show 5, I recommend the upgrade. Do you need it? No. Will you love it? Yes.
