Lewis Carroll's novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass (first published in 1865 and 1871, respectively) have entertained readers young and old for more than a century. Their magical worlds, amusing characters, clever dialogue and playfully logical illogic epitomize the wit and whimsy of Carroll's writing. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland transports you down the rabbit-hole into a wondrous realm that is home to a White Rabbit, a March Hare, a Mad Hatter, a tea-drinking Dormouse, a grinning Cheshire-Cat, the Queen of Hearts and her playing-card retainers and all manner of marvelous creatures. Through the Looking-Glass is your passport to a topsy-turvy world on the other side of the mirror, where you have to run fast just to stay in place, memory works backwards and it is possible to believe as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Both stories feature the colored classic illustrations of John Tenniel. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics. Each volume features authoritative texts by the world's greatest authors in an exquisitely designed foil-stamped binding, with distinctive colored edging and an attractive ribbon bookmark. Decorative, durable and collectible, these books offer hours of pleasure to readers young and old and are an indispensable cornerstone for any home library.

Ruined by Price Sticker

Bought a few of these colorful books for decorative purposes.. they were shipped with a huge price sticker plastered on the front that would not come off. We put them on the shelf knowing they could not be displayed. Just recently attempted to get the sticker off. As a book collector, I have never seen anything done to a book this badly to ruin it. If you manage to get the adhesive off it takes the color with it. Barnes & Noble should know better. Do not recommend unless you see it in the store and it has no sticker on it.

Amazing Novel!

In Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, written by Lewis Carroll, Alice takes you through many twists and turns throughout the rabbit hole. This novel creates a fun way to immerse yourself in riddles like "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" Said by the Mad Hatter, one of the best characters in the novel. Alice, the main character, is a sweet, curious, and beautiful girl. She questions things that make you puzzled about the genuine answer, even as a high schooler. This novel makes you doubt and question sayings, actions, and standard lessons you've learned. I love this book because it brings concepts I have not realized before. This novel has a fantastic cover and quality, and there is a ribbon bookmark for when you need to mark your place. I don't think it is necessary because you will not want to put it down. As a reader, it has exciting language and frequently switches up writing styles. There are poems, metaphors, similes, personifications, symbolism, and allusions. One of my favorite personifications in this novel is the white rabbit and how he has clothes, talks, can experience emotions, and hold things in his hand. I love the way Lewis Carroll tries to transform animals into humans so that they can have conversations with people like Alice. The illustrations in the novel are beautifully drawn out, which helps you experience and amazingly see the scene. This novel symbolizes a child's growth and the difference between having aid or being by yourself. There is a deeper meaning because Alice is left by herself throughout the book. Lewis Caroll is trying to show that it is okay to be a kid and question things as long you are having fun. This novel is for people of all ages and helps create a fun way to read and be drawn into a fiction story. I would recommend this novel with a five-star rating because it was one of my favorite novels and movie as a kid. I love that this novel was first published in 1865 because it gives you one of the best cozy and vintage feelings while reading and experiencing the writer's view.

Perfect

So it's not very clear with how many options for book formats there are nowadays, and none of the reviews I read broke down in detail, but the one I chose under this listing was the pink "paperback" format. It is actually one of those foamy hybrid covers with thicker pages for the book, and bluish tinted edging on them. And it is more beautiful than it looks in the pictures here; I actually stared at the book in my hands for 10 minutes I was so enthralled. I'm not a fan of pink AT ALL, but the filigree-like detail front and back hooked me. That is a bronzy-gold color while the pink is not as bold or abrasive as I thought. It's very fitting. And! It's not mentioned under the paperback format, or the title or anything else, but the pink version does indeed include John Tenniel's original artwork, which is what I was looking for (without having to purchase crazy expensive limited or special edition). Perfect price point. My only wish is it had included the 3rd part - the poem for the Hunting of the Snark. I haven't read Alice in Wonderland in a very long time, even though it is absolutely my most favorite story and inspired how I live, so still somehow it feels like something brand new. I can't speak for the eReader version or the hardcover/blue version, but I'm sure they're great also. As for the story itself, if you've never even seen or heard of the Disney-version movies, then you've been living under a rock. They all follow the gist, but nothing beats the written word. It's absolutely worth it.

I dig it, very groovy!

The book is amazing. I'm not completely done reading it as I've just received it today but wow. It is crazy it only costed $10. Amazing quality. It has a built-in ribbon bookmark. This is everything, this is everything- no, more than what I expected. I expected a good book, good shipping, and good quality in everything all-around. But no, I got an amazing book, amazing shipping, and amazing quality. Seriously, this was a very groovy purchase, and I dig it!

Beautiful book

I really wanted a book with the Tenniel illustrations to read with my daughter. I didn’t expect much for $10 and was very pleasantly surprised. I expected a paperback book, but the cover actually has nice structure and is beautifully designed. There is even a built in ribbon bookmark. I’ve always loved the Alice in Wonderland movies but I’ve never read the story until now and it’s funny and delightful.
