A fantastic rendition

The book looks and feels great, a solid printing with many stories that are left out of other renditions. And no, the stories have not changed or become "politically correct" I still have my copy of Aesop's Fables from 1977 (quite beat up, and is being replaced), and The Ants and the Grasshopper is the same story.

Eh...

The lesson I learned from Aesop’s fables is to do more research before buying something. The stories are a lot shorter than I thought they would be, with the shortest being a few sentences and the longest being two pages. Very little interesting details, just straight to the point, which I found boring. It might be someone else’s cup of tea but not mine personally. The illustrations and gold details are nice, but the gold on the sides of the pages came a bit scratched up. Additionally, some of the stories are... questionable in nature (see “The Runaway Slave”...). Overall I’m not really sure this was worth the money. Would return it if I could.

Politically correct stories in a beautiful book

I received the book today, and the outside is absolutely beautiful. However, the stories are what matter and sadly, they have been made "politically correct". "The Ants and the Grasshopper" fable no longer makes sense. They omitted the harsher lessons of the story. Unbelievable! The ending in this book no longer makes sense of the original story. Find an older book with the right stories if you can. Very disappointing...
