It’s been a few years since I’ve actually sat down and been interested in reading a book. I bought this a good couple months ago and only just now sat down to read it and within three days I had finished it. While it’s a slow start the book was nothing but thrilling and gripping leaving you wanting more.

does NOT deserve all the hype
cringy, immaturely written, filled with careless errors, and worst of all this book romanticizes sexual assault. i am blown away by all the positive attention this series has received. Mass cannot even keep track of the hair color of some characters. this book is not for intelligent readers. Most YA fantasy is better quality than this idiotic book.

Hooked by the Curse and stayed for Feyre
This one surprised me in the best way. I went in expecting a Beauty and the Beast retelling and came out way more emotionally invested than I thought I’d be. Feyre was a character I immediately liked—tough, stubborn, and quietly vulnerable in a way that made me root for her from the beginning. At first, I was all in on Tamlin. The mysterious, broody High Fae prince vibe? Totally worked. But by the time we got Under the Mountain, I started to feel uneasy. Watching him sit there and do nothing while Feyre was literally fighting for her life? Not a great look. The twist with the curse was clever and made so much sense once it all clicked into place. And Feyre facing the wyrm—that whole scene had me holding my breath. I didn’t expect to get so hyped about a worm battle, but there I was, completely in it. It’s not a perfect book, but it hooked me enough to immediately pick up the next one—which turned out to be a whole new level of obsession.

Stay away from this series.
I’m a second away from dousing myself in gasoline and lighting myself on fire just so I never have to look at this book again.

So so
This book was over hyped. I read it as soon as I got it, took maybe a week to finish. I love fantasy/romance with some spice. This was fantasy and romance but the storyline was so slow. Too many tiny details that weren’t totally necessary and at times kind of boring. Compared to the Fourth Wing series or Persephone x Hades series by Scarlett St Clair, this book came up short.
