The two gifts that our 4 year old twin boys have played with the most during this holiday season have been the two Melissa & Doug Jumbo ABC Puzzles that we purchased for Christmas! Our children are very visual learners, so the colorful board and letters immediately got their attention as soon as they opened the packages. They also love to put their hands on things (as most 4 year olds do), and the letters are the perfect size for them to get their hands on and try to spell words without having to deal with pieces that are too big to manuever as we try to teach them letter sounds and sight words, and they are not so small that we worry too much about choking hazards. The biggest plus for us is that it allows us to spend time having fun with the children without the buzzing and constant noise of electronic games, and it helps build two-way communication skills for our kids as we actually talk (as opposed to watching a video) to each other, which is becoming a lost art. We would recommend this product to anyone who is interested in helping their children with the basic building blocks of developing a strong vocabulary.
Great puzzle
We have these and the numbers puzzle. Both are really well built and fun and colorful and educational. My son learned all his letters and the numbers 1-20 from these puzzles.
