I haven’t had the watch very long but switched from Apple, and I’m so glad I did! The battery life is phenomenal (a big selling point for me). There’s so much customization still to make it personal to me. I’m on a search and recovery dive team for work and wanted something to track dives but that is useful for everyday wear. This is still user friendly under water, even with low visibility. 100% recommend!

Garmin G1 Descent Solar
Great watch for diving and has many of the great features that other garmins have. I like the solar charging capability. Quite customizable and user friendly. Never had a watch that suited my lifestyle like this one. This watch is suited to someone who freedives/spear-fishermen/scuba divers.

Robust and very reliable
The ease of use and intuitive menus, ability to have weeks between charging, and use of watch for biking, running, walking, kayaking and scuba diving with tons of great metrics is AWESOME!!! I will only use Garmin. This Decent G1 is now my backup for the Mk3i.

Amazing all in one watch
I got this G1 as a birthday gift a few weeks ago and was immediately blown away by all of the features and capabilities. I’d does everything from being a solid dive computer, to showing you alters and texts from your phone, to tracking your fitness and sleep. It even shows me the moon phases and tides in my area. The look is great, smooth and sporty with a high quality look. My only criticism is, that when first testing it in the water it went into a tanked dive mode and when I came out it started a surface interval. Unaware that it would not stop on its own, I noticed the other day, that it is still going and has been counting a surface interval for the past week plus. I’m unable to stop the interval in the dive setting, even after looking up instructions. Maybe I’m missing something but I’ve tried all the instructions I could find.

Best dive computer for the money on the market
I bought this right when Garmin released them. The only thing this computer doesn't do is air integration, but there isn't any type of diving to grow in to that this can't handle, from Open water diving to Close Circuit Rebreathing. I loved having the fitness and smart watch features all included in 1. I can read my text messages while having my phone in my boat bag and I'm at the helm or teaching on the boat. My phone stays in a water tight bag and I only access it when I need to. This is my 1st recommendation to any student who is getting in to diving without an unlimited budget to otherwise get the MK3i

Easy to use
As a newly certed scientific diver I love my garmin descent for it's easy to read display and compact design. I upload each dive using the app and love how simple it is to keep track my stats.

I like the watch and the functionality
I bought the Descent Solar for a dive trip I have planned. I like the watch and its functionality . However I went scuba diving in a pool to get used to the diving functions and I cannot see the screen. I’ve tried to make adjustments but still having difficulty seeing it while diving.
