Amazing Book and positivity

I bought this book to familiarize myself with the process of puberty because my granddaughter has begun. My experience was not positive and felt shameful and I want her experience to be much much more positive. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that I did not know the names of all my female parts and worse, I couldn’t say the words without being incredibly uncomfortable; I can’t make it a positive experience if I’m embarrassed to say the names of the body parts. So, when in doubt, read about it. I love this book because it’s so positive, it normalizes the puberty process across ALL girls and the message throughout the book is “no matter how your body is going through puberty, it is exactly as it should be…for you. It discourages comparing one’s self to other’s process, instead imparting that no two girls go through puberty exactly the same. There are enough illustrations (nothing too jarring) to explain things and a lot of very practical information. It talks about all aspects of puberty—breast development (did you know there are five stages?), new body hair, to shave or not to shave, skin care and showering, etc. I cannot say that I love this book enough!! I’ve read it three times and I feel so much more equipped to field questions with accurate information and without embarrassment or discomfort. Thank you for helping me give my granddaughter a better puberty experience.
