Food and family

I love everything about his book because it so multi-layered. Young children will understand the story of food and family, older children will want to try the recipe in the back, as well as dig into the information given in the author's note about the history of fry bread. In schools, this book could be used in story times and with life skills, social studies, reading, science, and math curriculum. This deceptively simple book is one to learn from and enjoy.

So cute!

This book is adorable! I love the illustrations and the meaning behind it. I love the idea of educating my little niece and also being able to cook her some fry bread (a recipe is in the back!) This will definitely be a great one to teach her about Native Americans and teach her about the REAL people and their message.
