Heartwarming Story

In this beautiful and tender picture book, a child and his elderly neighbor become friends. Their friendship blossoms and they discover new things about each other - and themselves. The lovely message on love and loss reminds the reader that the roses will bloom again and that they are there, even if you can't see them. This is a book for anyone who cares about community, friendship, grief, and the ways we care for each other.

Tender intergenerational story!

DEAR MR. G is a tender story of a friendship between a child and his older neighbor, Mr. G. It’s satisfying to turn the pages and watch as their friendship grows – right along with the roses they tend together. The ending is heartfelt and touches on important topics of death and grief, and how to keep someone’s memory alive. The illustrations are warm and inviting, and propel the story along in between letters. This book shows young readers a positive intergenerational friendship, highlights letter writing as a way to communicate, and shows ways to cope with death. I highly recommend this book for any children’s bookshelf!
