Fox and I: An Uncommon Friendship by Catherine Raven
Product Details
Web ID: 14500634I wanted more about the Fox.
This book didn't really get in to the relationship she had with the Fox until 3/4 of the way through the book. It's more about the author and her background. I realize nature is not always peaches and cream, however there were some upsetting things if you are an animal lover. It was also surprising to find out she was a hunter.

Unique and moving
A unique writing style that took me some time to get used to. Once I got into her style, I loved it and could not be critical. It is very unique and I find it opened up some ideas for me of how I also express myself in the world. There are passages in the book that are pure beauty and what they convey make the effort to understand the author worth every bit of re-reading. My only regret is that I can't read it again for the first time.

Not my kind of book
I am a real nature/animal lover so thought I would love this book. Especially about a fox since we have a resident red fox at our new house. However, I could just never get past the attitude throughout the book. I thought the fox and her relationship would be the central story but it wasn't. It was more about her and that wasn't what I was looking for.

An inspiring, wonderful read
This is an amazing story, made all the more interesting because it's true. The author combines her strong scientific background with a beautifully written, very personal account of an unexpected relationship she developed with a fox near her home. There is a lot this book can teach about life and the meaning of friendship.
