Compost Bin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This compost bin had a terrible odor after using it once with a plastic bag. I washed it with dish detergent, it still smelled. I put it in the dishwasher, it still has an awful odor. I then threw it out. Very disappointed in OXO who usually have great products.

Just what I needed

Size. Holds a reasonable amount of food, doesn’t take up much counter space and fits under the sink when I want to stash it away. Functional: Contains the smell, holds the compost bag in place and easy to transport to the community compost bin. Appearance. Nice look. I don’t mind it sitting out. I’ve always been a fan of OXO and they delivered again on a good quality product !

Nice bin

This bin is very nice. I wish I’d bought the smaller size because I do need to keep it in my refrigerator but I do like it. Yesterday was the first time I emptied it and I was pleased at how the inside had not stained from coffee grounds. I also did not use a bag (bags are not acceptable in our composting system in Chicago) and was pleased at how it did not leave drips of yucky food on the edges.

Keeps fruit flies down

I've been really impressed with the reduction in fruit flies after we started composting with the OXO bin. The lid stays tightly shut via gravity (the fit is really good), and I don't detect any smells. We empty about once a week.
