Not up to your standard

I submitted a review for your toaster oven and you wrote back to tell me it wasn't acceptable according to your standards. I have had the toaster oven for several months but I didn't register it. Short of that, the only reason not to like it is that I gave a negative review. I can send a photo if that would prove I own it. People deserve to know it goes off and on while toasting.

Too hot to handle

I bought this toaster as a gift for my mom. While she was using it, the handle of this toaster burned and melted right off. At minimum the external materials should be able to withstand its own heating capabilities.

Terrible toaster, ok oven

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this 3 ago and on toast, it keeps shutting down. So, you put 2 slices of bread and click the one know to toast and the other to some time setting. It starts, gets red for a few minutes and then the element shut off. A minute later, they go back one and then off again. The bread really never gets toasted. On oven, it seems ok. On broil, the same thing, it keeps shutting down. I found that leaving the door open on broil, seems to improve this problem.

Thank you for offering your feedback regarding your Black+Decker TRO420. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been somewhat disappointed with your oven’s results. I do want to advise that it is normal for the elements to cycle on and off when baking or toasting, but the issue you’ve experienced with the results may be something I can address for you under the two year warranty. I do not recommend that you continue using your oven in the manner you describe, however. Please reply to the email I've sent you from youropinionmatters@spectrumbrands.com, so I can better assist you.

Handle Melted Off

Bought the oven under a month ago and used a few times. The handle melted off from the top where the metal connects the screws to the plastic handle.

Awful toaster oven.

I simply hate it. Bread either doesn’t toast right or it toasts too much to point of almost burning. No control. My other one lasted 20+ years, but this one is junk. I will never buy another one. What happened to just one knob control??? I WISH I COULD RETURN IT ! ! !

smoking a problem?

There is smoke coming out of this toaster oven each time it is used. The smoke is not from food. It comes from behind the control panel. I am wondering if this is a fire hazard. Otherwise, it performs well, except the control knobs are extremely hard to turn.

Previous model was better

Previous model - TRO490 - had 2 hooks on the door so that when the door was opened the rack was pulled out. With the current model you have to reach in and pull the hot rack out. The model was not in any of the 3 stores I went to.

Works as intended

This was a replacement to my older Toaster Oven that had to replace since top the heating element of my older one quit and the replacement element was not cost effective. I like the new one, have to watch the dials since we use to bake and to toast; glad that my arthritis is not too advance and still can turn the knobs to... about .. to toast (and not to burn) my food. Some weeks ago I started to unplug it from the wall due to a ZUMMBING / vibrating noise produced by it while not in use... which tells me that it is consuming electricity while on stand by....
