Baby Bath & Potty-Training Essentials

Ah, the magical stage that is potty training. You’ll inevitably reach a point in your little one’s life when it’s high time they learned how to use the toilet on their own. And while this can often be a frustrating time that involves a lot of different opinions and techniques, you can remove any added stress by having all the baby bath and potty-training essentials you need at the ready. Here’s a handy checklist of items and some helpful hints on how to get started.

When They’re Ready, They’re Ready
Although not all kids will be ready for toilet training at the same age, there are some signs to look for that might indicate your kiddo is. For example, “potty words” might become a common part of their vernacular and they might take an interest in using the bathroom or wearing underwear. These are all good indicators that it’s time to invest in a potty-training toilet and start packing your diaper bag with pull-down diapers, disposable training pants or underpants instead.

It's All About Routine
Like taking naps and going to bed at the same time each night, having a routine is a helpful part of the process. Some key times to have your child sit on their potty chair are first thing in the morning, approximately an hour after drinking liquids or eating and at night before they put their pajamas on.

Stock Up on Essentials
It’s important to have some baby essentials to make life easier. Extra baby washcloths and baby towels will certainly come in handy when accidents happen. You might be eager to get rid of the diaper pail and changing pad, but don’t rush because you might actually need these things for a while.

Always Be Ready with a Reward
A reward is in order when your little one successfully uses the toilet. No need to overdo it, small rewards are enough, even if it’s just letting them play with baby bath toys in a sudsy bubble bath. Afterward, wrap ‘em up in their favorite baby blanket.
