PETITE SIZE & FIT ADVICE

What is the difference between petite and regular sizes? Petite clothing is specifically designed for women whose frames are 5’4” and under, and the clothing has been cut proportionally to fit and flatter the petite women’s frame. Good news! We’ve tailored your favorite styles to create a petite collection, exclusively for you. Sizes including a “P” indicate that they are petite, and they’re available from your favorite brands, including Charter Club, MICHAEL Michael Kors and LAUREN Ralph Lauren.

HOW DO PETITE TOPS FIT?

Goodbye, saggy sleeves! To obtain the perfect fit, petite tops have been specially crafted to enhance your shorter silhouette. Clothing measurements have been made shorter and smaller to keep you looking your best. Here is what you can expect from petite tops.

  • Petite tops are made shorter from the neck to the waist to accommodate your smaller frame. The waist is also a bit smaller for a cleaner line. A regular missy size top might be too long and fit you like a tunic, so by getting a petite sized top you will be solving this issue.
  • For a more tailored fit, petite tops are made with narrower shoulders. The top of your sleeves should sit at the bony part of your shoulder.
  • Are you tired of rolling up your sleeves? Petite sized tops are designed with shorter sleeves that hit at your wrist for a perfect fit.
  • No more peek-a-bra. Petite tops are crafted with higher armholes, so dresses do not reveal your bra for a better fit.
  • Showcasing a 2” shorter inseam, petite bottoms will save you the time and money of getting your clothing altered. By being the proper length with a higher knee position, your pants will no longer have to be cuffed for a much sleeker look.
  • Petite pants are made with a shorter rise to lend a better fit. FYI, the rise determines where your pants sit on your body.
  • To help flaunt your legs, petite skirts feature shorter hemlines. To make the most of what you have, dress in above-the-knee styles. And, remember to match your tights with your skirt and boots.
  • Are your skinny jeans fitting you more like straight-leg jeans? Petite pants feature a slimmer leg opening for a more defined silhouette.
  • Petite pants feature a slimmer fit through your thighs and knees. Being shorter means you also need a more tailored design.
  • Petite skirts feature less volume for an elongating look. You don’t want your clothes to overwhelm your smaller frame.
  • Chest. In order to take your bust measurement, lift your arms and place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest.
  • Waist. To determine your waist size, measure around your natural waistline.
  • Hips. For an accurate hip measurement, place your heels together and measure around the largest part of your hips.
  • Inseam. You’ll find out your inseam by measuring from the top of your inner thigh down to your ankle.

Helpful Hint: Shop for narrower petite hangers to avoid unsightly bumps and lumps in your clothes.
